Bright, warm, retro, California, Georgia O'Keeffe were all things mentioned in designing this complete transformation with the client. We wanted big impact using some pretty inexpensive materials and found the square tile made a retro clean look in many places throughout. Keeping almost everything white, simple, and clean also creates a perfect backdrop for the homeowner’s art and minimally placed furniture. And “minimal” doesn’t mean “cold” here because you won’t see any grey anywhere. The floor throughout is a warm bright wood which catches the natural light and softens all edges. Look up and you’ll see California’s true blue sky in contrast to the new white vaulted ceiling in the deep pocketed skylights. Its our humble tribute to O'Keeffe’s surroundings of sand, white adobe walls, expansive blue sky, and beautiful artist’s expression.
